After seeing the intro to a particular anime I was overcome by an overwhelming urge to draw this pic. Knowing all the back stories to most of the cast of Naruto you can't help but notice a trend. The trend of the underdog... everyone seems to be some sort of loser in Naruto in one way or another. While some may call it cliche I call it somewhat inspiring. I guess thats why so many ppl like this series. People like to root for the unlikely hero. And as a self proclaimed LOSER myself, I pay homage to this really good series (even though I've been paying alittle to often these days). So here we have the Fatass, the Outcast, the Hopless Dreamer, and the Monster. I'd like to imagine that if they knew each other at this age they could've been a really tight crew. And Gaara especially would have known what friendship truly was and he wouldn't have been such of a jerkoff. Now that I'm looking at it I'm not all entirly sure if its all that dramatic... thats what I was looking for... oh well.
awesome!
It's very dramatic!...and you're right about the plot in Naruto It makes the story far more powerful to have characters with interesting backgrounds like them...
great work on this anyway
Whahhh, that's amazing! JEEZ I love how you drew them all...and the shading is wonderful as always. I can't believe what cool things you always come up with in your drawings, aahhhh. I need to lock you in a closet and steal your talent .
I think your analysis is very true, Naruto and Lee have to be my absolute favorites and Chouji and Gaara get a lot of my love too. I love this picture, I think this is going to be another fav. Half your gallery is going to end up in my favorites or something, I'm telling you every time I just get blown away. The perspective and shading and expression in this are just amazing. I would have toned Gaara's hair a little to contrast that Naruto and Chouji are blonde while his is red. I love how you've done all their noses and chins, especially from this angle it just is so smoothly pulled off.
Brilliant Homage and awesome angle. I know the underdog themes is what drew me into Naruto... it gets dull watching anime in which the 'hero' defeats everyone because he's just naturally more skilled. I wanna see some struggle dammit!
i like the monter the best cuase he look lost and he looks kick ass in his cloak right on good stuff man as always i have now things on the way so stay tuned
Excuse me while I pick my jaw off the floor. This is really amazing, some of the most complex characters in the series. I'm quite the loser myself, on the side of Lee-type loser, and I really relate to him. Eeee, you really captured a great portion of the theme of the series, and I love that. +fav

I'm not that bad. I just type that way.
Anyway, this pic is spiffy. The pencilwork indeed is great, and the perspective is right on the money. Melikies. :}
